NSS

The main objective of National Service Scheme (NSS) is to serve the community while studying in an educational institution. NSS seeks to arouse the social consciousness of students and provide them with the opportunity to work with the people around the educational campuses creatively and constructively.

The motto of the NSS is ‘not me but you’. This expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need to appreciate other man’s point of view and show consideration for fellow human beings. It also underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the Welfare of the society as a whole.

Specific objectives of NSS:

  1. To achieve alround personality development of the student through community participation.
  2. To work with and among the people.
  3. To engage in creative and constructive social action and to inculcate the sense of dignity of labour.
  4. To enhance their knowledge of the community through interaction with reality of social life.
  5. To put their scholarship to practical use in mitigating the problems of the society.
  6. To gain skill in the exercise of democratic leadership.
  7. To bridge the gulf between the educated and uneducated masses.
  8. To promote the will to serve the weaker sections of the community.

Projects undertaken:

  1. Clean & Green Programmes: Both the teachers and the students are actively involved in these programmes regularly.
  2. Institution work: Placing the students as volunteers in select Welfare agencies outside the camputs.
  3. Institution projects: Involving them in the aactivities pertaining to improvement of campuses, construction of play fields, beautifying the college building etc.,
  4. Rural projects: Engaging them in programmes like AIDS awareness programmes, eradication of illiteracy, minor irrigation works, sanitation, development of Rural Co-operatives, savings drive, construction of rural roads etc.,
  5. Blood Donation: Encouraging students in blood donation.
  6. Peer Youth Program: Involving them to create awareness on epediamological diseases among rural folk.

Dr. S. Sreedevi , Assistant Professor in Chemistry, Dr. M. Kankaiah , Assistant Professor in Commerce and Business Management, Mr. J. Chandulal, Assistant Professor in English and Dr. D.Srinivas, Assistant Professor in Botany are the Programme Officers of the Units respectively
